Age 6, “When I grow up I want to be a fireman”
Age 12 “When I grow up I want to be a singer”
Age 16 “When I grow up I want to be an athletes”
Age 25 “I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up”
Age 35 “Man, he/she’s lucky, I wish I could afford that, have a car like that, live in that big house. Wish I could love my job like she does”
Age 40 “I’ve got to do something! I think I’m going to start (fill in the blank)______, because I’m sick of this job and I need to get out of here”
Some of us have been following this pattern for a long time and we realized that we needed to break out of it, but as we started taking our first step forward, we took a pause. Why?
I believe sometimes we think so much that we never take action. Sometimes we’re thinking about the big dream that we want to accomplish and we think about this dream for years without taking steps towards accomplishing it. It could be because we have over analyzed the process to the point that we’ve talked ourselves out of it. We take that first step forward and freeze. We freeze for many different reasons, whether it be the fear of the unknown, the fear of failure, or maybe something else occurred that took our attention away, and for whatever reason we can’t seem to get our focus back on the mission.
The people who have achieved great success all have one thing (if not more) in common, and that is, they did not stop pursuing their dreams and just give up. Sometimes you will have a dream, but nobody is on your side to help push you and encourage you but that’s because they don’t share in the understanding that we are to pursue our goals with fervor, and overcome our obstacles in order to get to the finish line. They believe in looking for obstacles before they even get started, and allowing those obstacles to put fear in their minds to prevent them from pursuing their goals. That is the common mindset, and in order for you to achieve what you have the potential to achieve, you MUST NOT have this mindset.
I encourage you to believe in your self, have confidence, and have poise as you pursue your dreams. Comment with your thoughts at the bottom of the page.
